SEED Next Generation Living: Addressing Sustainability Issues in Swiss Real Estate

Capvest supports the association for the creation of sustainable developments and eco-neighborhoods in Switzerland

As part of its sponsorship activities, Capvest has decided to support the association
SEED Next Generation Living
SEED, which works for the realization of sustainable neighborhoods in Switzerland. In this process, Capvest accompanied the association in the achievement of its objectives. The aim of the association is to carry out internal workshops with its members, in order to work on the themes of differentiated financing and neighborhood dynamics.

Differentiated financing must allow each actor (owner, developer, operator, municipality, tenant) to have better visibility on the necessary investments, both in terms of construction and operating costs of the district once it has been delivered and occupied by its inhabitants. This includes integrating the costs of sustainability, neighborhood living and the creation of community space at no additional cost to future occupants. Models such as land sharing, for example, are an integral part of this approach.

Neighborhood dynamics should make it possible to provide operational tools that facilitate the implementation of neighborhood life. In addition to defining the roles and responsibilities of the different actors, these workshops have allowed the creation of model statutes and charters that can be made available for future projects.

This year contributes to the progress of sustainable real estate development in Switzerland

Since the beginning of the year, more than 10 workshops have been held to better understand the issues surrounding these two topics, differentiated funding and neighborhood dynamics. Capvest actively participated in each of these workshops, as well as in their steering committee. Mr. François Guisan, Director of the company
Osmia
also actively supported these workshops and their organization. Osmia is a consulting firm specializing in the integration of sustainability criteria in real estate projects, from design to operation.

The challenge for SEED Next Generation Living is to actively support the creation of sustainable neighborhoods and to validate the commitments made through the issuance of a certification.
